Yesterday, 28 Business Law & Ethics students from JPS visited the U.S. District Courthouse in Trenton, NJ. Our students met with The Honorable Judge Zahid N. Quraishi, the first Muslim-American federal judge in U.S. history. The students had a 75-minute wide-ranging conversation with the judge in his courtroom, where we discussed his career, a day in the life of a federal judge, some of his most challenging cases, and how he interacts with his staff of clerks and interns (whom we met as well). The highlight of the trip: we had the special privilege of being invited by the judge to tour his chambers, to see what goes on "behind the scenes" of a courtroom.

Amazing news for the JPS Art Program: 6 of our students were awarded at the Congressman Frank Pallone Jr.'s 6th Congressional District High School Art Competition Awards ceremony on Saturday! JPS received the most awards from any school in the 6th Congressional District, 6 out of 18 total! Most impressive was junior Siqi Ye's 1ST PLACE win for the entire competition! Her painting "Tired Man" will be hung in the Cannon Tunnel in Washington DC for 1 year.

Yesterday, four members of the Milltown Rescue Squad volunteered their time to teach the Biomedical students proper techniques for assessing the scene, lifting and moving injured patients, and splinting. The Biomedical students got to practice securing necks as they rolled a patient onto a backboard, learned proper strap placement to secure the patients on different medical equipment, and learned how to use a stair chair. The Biomedical students ended their time by practicing splinting arms and legs. It was a fun-filled learning experience for all!

Thank you so much to Laura Holborow for organizing this and to Evelyn Nguyen (former JPS student), Lily Schneider, Demi Gamel, and Katie Paredes for their time and knowledge.
