Jessoca Miele

Edison Township Public Schools is proud to announce that Jessica Miele, a third grade teacher at James Monroe Elementary School, has been named the 2026–2027 Middlesex County Teacher of the Year by the New Jersey Department of Education.

Miele is one of 21 County Teachers of the Year selected across New Jersey and will represent the educators of Middlesex County as part of the state’s Governor’s Educator of the Year Program.

A graduate of The College of New Jersey with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, Miele has taught both second and third grade at James Monroe Elementary School. Her approach to teaching centers on creating memorable learning experiences, building meaningful relationships, and helping every student recognize and reach their potential.

In her classroom, Miele brings learning to life through creative, hands-on experiences, including robotics, pen-pal exchanges with students in Texas, immersive themed learning days, and vision-board activities that encourage students to identify their goals and envision their futures.

Her impact extends well beyond her classroom. Miele leads professional development for district educators, mentors new teachers, and welcomes future educators into her classroom for observation and learning. She serves as a Wellness Ambassador at James Monroe, supporting staff well-being, physical fitness, and community engagement, and co-advises the school’s Robotics, Mentoring, and Kindness Clubs.

Miele is also known for the relationships she builds with her students and families. Whether attending a student’s sporting event, dance recital, or other activity outside of school, she believes that showing up for students beyond the classroom is an important part of creating a strong and connected school community.

Her selection marks the second consecutive year that an Edison Township Public Schools educator has been named Middlesex County Teacher of the Year, following 2025–2026 honoree Pam Eng.

As Middlesex County Teacher of the Year, Miele joins the other 20 county honorees from across New Jersey. The group will be recognized by the New Jersey Department of Education, and the New Jersey State Teacher of the Year will be selected from among the county honorees.

Edison Township Public Schools congratulates Jessica Miele on this extraordinary achievement and is proud to have her represent our students, schools, and community throughout Middlesex County and across New Jersey.
