James Monroe Plate Pioneers welcomed Mark Dinglasan. Executive Director of the New Jersey Office of the Food Security Advocate

James Monroe Plate Pioneers recently welcomed Mark Dinglasan, New Jersey’s State Advocate for Food Security, to recognize and strengthen efforts to address food insecurity within the school community. During his visit, Mr. Dinglasan shared valuable information on resources available to help New Jersey families access food, noting that one in twelve families across the state faces food insecurity. He also celebrated the impactful work of the James Monroe Plate Pioneers, applauding their student-led initiatives, including organizing share carts, creating public service announcements and writing newsletters to raise awareness, and reading stories to classrooms to foster empathy and understanding. Together, these efforts highlight how students are making a meaningful difference right in their own school community.
