  • Congrats! John P. Stevens is one of 135 schools in the nation and one of only three in New Jersey to receive a 2018 Merit Award for Best Communications for Music Education! Congratulations to Mr. DeNicola, Mr. Zazzali, Dr. Verdi, Mr. Lee, and Mr. Huaman!

  • The New Jersey Department of Education State Seal of Biliteracy identifies graduating high school students who are able to demonstrate proficiency in English in addition to one or more world languages.  The State Seal of Biliteracy certifies that a high school graduate has:

     

    1. Demonstrated proficiency in English by meeting English language arts graduation requirements or attained the appropriate cut score on the ACCESS for ELLs assessment (for English Language Learners); and
    2. Demonstrated a linguistic proficiency level of at least Intermediate Mid according to the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages Proficiency Guidelines, or demonstrated a level deemed equivalent to Intermediate Mid for languages such as American Sign Language or Native American languages.Congrats!

  • On Monday, March 12th, 2018, Latin students took the National Latin Exam with 143,000 other students from all 50 states and 24 foreign countries (Australia, Belgium, Belize, Bermuda, Canada, China, France, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, the Republic of Georgia, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, the UAE, the UK, and Zimbabwe!).     JP Stevens HS Odyssey of the Mind teams competed in a World Tournament May 23-26 at Iowa St. University. The competition included almost 900 teams from multiple continents, nations, and representative states in the United States. In the high school age group, division III, JP Stevens HS had 5 out of 10 teams representing NJ and all performed wonderfully.

    Congratulations to the following participants for this exceptional achievement:

     

    I. JP Stevens HS Tm C in Triathlon Travels tied for 6th place in the style category, placed within the top 20 teams and included:

    II. JP Stevens HS Tm B in Emoji, Speak for yourself managed to place within the top 20 teams with only half of their team present and included:

    III. JP Stevens HS Tm A in Classics... Mockumentary! Seriously? placed within the top 25 teams, and included:

    IV. JP Stevens HS Tm B in Animal House had the 2nd highest weight held in Div III in the Worlds Finals, placed within the top ten at worlds in problem 4, and included:

    V. JP Stevens HS Tm A in Animal House achieved 2nd place in the style category, 2nd place in spontaneous, had 2nd highest weight held in Div III in the Worlds Finals, placed the highest of any NJ team at Worlds in problem 4, HAVE DONE WHAT VERY FEW TEAMS IN THE WORLD IN THE HISTORY OF ODYSSEY OF THE MIND AS REPEAT WORLD CHAMPIONS and included:

    The John P Stevens Acapella Ensemble placed 1st at the Roxbury Invitational Choral Festival. This is the third time in JP Stevens history that this has been accomplished (the last time being in 2012). They also received the rating of gold. Furthermore, Brendan Tang won an Outstanding Achievement Award for his piano playing, and Jared Borja won a Personal Achievement Award for his solo performance in the show category!

  • JPS Theatre Co. Wins Foxy Awards!

    Theatre Night Foxy Awards established in 2009, at Montclair State University, recognizes excellence in the production of high school and middle school straight plays throughout New Jersey. JP Stevens’ Theatre Company was awarded two Foxy’s for their production of Pride and Prejudice. The awards received were the following: Best Lighting Design and Best Lead Actress in a Classical Play for her role as Elizabeth Bennet --Diane Cervelli. Congratulations to the entire cast and crew of Pride and Prejudice!

  • Simran Carlsen Finds Volleyball Success!

    Congratulations to JP Freshman, Simrin Carlsen who helped lead her Club volleyball team, Team VB-Rags, to victory this weekend winning the regional championship and becoming the number one team in New York and New Jersey. With this championship, Simrin and her team earned a bid to the USA Volleyball National Championships in Detroit, Michigan, where she will compete this summer for a national title!

  • Congratulations to Meghna Das!

    New Jersey Shout Down Drugs challenges students to create original music and lyrics with powerful substance abuse prevention messages to allow teens to deliver the message to each other through their favorite medium of music. County Finalists are chosen by peer judges to perform their original songs at the Annual Statewide Prevention Concert, held in May. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners are chosen by a panel of judges that night to receive music contracts worth $5,000, $3,000 and $2,000 respectively to perform their winning songs at different events throughout the state. Congratulations to JP freshman, Meghna Das for finishing second!

  • Varun Das Plays Grammy Awards Big Band!

    JPS senior, Varun Das has been chosen to be the drummer for the incredibly talented Grammy Award Big Band. Varun will perform in the most famous jazz venues in New York City, record an album with the group, and attend this year's Grammy Awards at Madison Square Garden where he will play at the Grammy After Party.     The Boys Tennis Team has won the GMC Title for the 6th year in a row! They defeated South Brunswick by the score of 36-32.
