• Contract Negotiations Update
     
    Below is a chronology of the Edison Township Education Association and the Board of Education contract negotiations.
     
    Mutually Agreed Upon Statements
     
     
    AUGUST 31, 2017: Members of the Edison Township Education Association and the Edison Board of Education met on August 31 and agreed, in principle, to a tentative agreement on new 3-year contracts for both the Certificated and Non-Certificated bargaining units.
     
    Representatives from both sides will meet shortly to craft a formal Memorandum of Agreement to be approved by both sides, at which time details of the agreements will be made public.
     
    AUGUST 17, 2017:  The bargaining teams for both the certificated and non-certificated units of the ETEA met with the Board of Education to address financial items related to salary and benefits.
     
    Both sides will meet again on August 31 to continue this discussion and have added September 7 as an additional meeting date.
     
    AUGUST 8, 2017: Members of the Certificated negotiating team of the Edison Township Education Association and the Board of Education met to discuss various elements related to a new Certificated collective bargaining agreement. Most of the topics discussed related to various workday and workyear items.
     
    JULY 13, 2017: Members of the Edison Board of Education and members of the Edison Township Education Association met on July 13 to discuss elements of a new Certificated agreement.
     
    Significant progress was made on various elements of the contract related to several workplace and work-year issues.
     
     
    The two sides will meet again on July 25th to continue discussions related to the Non-Certificated agreement.
     
    JUNE 1, 13, 28, 2017: Members of the Certificated and Non-Certificated negotiating teams of the Edison Township Education Association and the Edison Board of Education met on June 1, June 13, and June 28 to continue discussion related to new collective bargaining agreements for both units.
     
    These meetings focused primarily on health benefits. Several proposals were shared and discussed, questions were clarified and several other issues were raised for further examination by both sides. The discussions were very productive and both sides feel that measurable progress has been made on this topic.
     
     
    The teams also set a meeting calendar that includes dates in July (July 6, 13, 25) and August (August 8, 17, 24. 31).
     
     
    The two sides will meet next on July 6 to continue discussions related to items related to  the Certificated contract specifically.
     
    APRIL 5, 2017: Representatives of the Edison Board of Education and the Edison Township Education Association met on Wednesday, April 5 to begin discussion on a new collective bargaining agreement. The teams signed off on salary and health scattergrams, ground rules and established meeting dates. The representatives will meet again on April 26.
     
    APRIL 26, 2017: Negotiations teams representing the certificated members of the Edison Township Education Association and the Edison Board of Education met on Wednesday, April 26. At the meeting, each side presented contract language and financial proposals for further consideration. Meeting dates were also established for June 1, June 13 and June 28.
     
    The non-certificated ETEA negotiating team and the Board of Ed will meet again on May 2nd, at which time it is anticipated that each will present language and financial proposals for these units.
     
    MAY 2, 2017: The Edison Board of Education and representatives of the Edison Township Education Association met on May 2 to exchange proposals related to the non-certificated contract. Both sides clarified specific questions and agreed on agenda items for the next several meetings.
     
    The two sides will meet again to continue discussions on May 18.
     
    MAY 18, 2017: Members of the Edison Board of Education and the Edison Township Education Association met to continue discussions on the Non-Certificated Agreement. Several items related to the clarification of existing language were agreed upon and each side clarified language contained in other specific proposals.
     
    The two groups will meet again on May 24th to discuss language related to the Certificated agreement.
