The counseling program at Washington Elementary is designed to meet the wide range of academic, emotional, and social needs of our students. Throughout the school year many support services will be available including individual counseling, group counseling on topics such as bullying, friendship, and grief support, and classroom lessons.
I am always available to meet with students who have an issue they would like to discuss as well as parents and teachers who have concerns.
It is imperative to work together in order to help our students achieve success. Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me via phone or email.
Each year, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students participate in the New Jersey Assessment of Skills and Knowledge (NJASK). All students are assessed in the areas of Language Arts Literacy, Reading, and Math. The fourth grade test also includes a Science section.
What is I&RS?
Intervention and Referral Services (I&RS) assists teachers who have identified a student in the general education program as experiencing a learning, behavior, and/or health difficulty. As a committee, we collect thorough information, plan and provide interventions, and collaborate with teachers and parents/guardians to increase the effectiveness of the interventions.
