Hello Parents,
I enjoyed meeting many of you at Back-to-School Night! Remember, students who are found eligible for BSI services will receive a letter and postcard in the mail. Please sign and date the card, and then return it to school. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to email me or call the school! Contact Info: tami.ruvolo@edison.k12.nj.us
As I said at our meeting, I will be working with students in Grades 1st – 5th. However, BSI students in inclusion rooms (classrooms with two full-time teachers) will receive services from their classroom teachers, and not from the Reading Specialist. Although I will not be working with these students directly, it is important they be identified as being eligible for BSI services. I will assess them three times during the school year and work closely with their teachers to discuss ideas, additional support programs, and interventions.
The following are ideas and routines that we discussed last night. A reading bag will come home each night. Please ask your child to read aloud to you. You can ask them, “What did you learn to do as a reader today? What does this book make you think of?” This reading bag should be returned to school each day.
Check out the following books/series. These books can be read by your child independently or read aloud with you!
