Student Council

At James Monroe School, the Student Council works very hard to help those in need.  Our focus is on assisting those in our community who need our help and we strive to help as many as we can throughout the year.

As an annual project, James Monroe Student Council always participates in the St. Jude’s Math-A-Thon.  St. Jude’s is a charity hospital that treats children at no cost to their parents.  Since we have worked with St. Jude’s for more than a decade, they have become an organization near and dear to our hearts.  Our Math-A-Thon and Estimate-A-Thon helped us to raise thousands of dollars for this worthy cause.

Another fundraiser that has become an annual occurrence for the Student Council is St. Baldricks, a charity dedicated to raising money for those with cancer.  Our own Miss Ford participates in this fundraiser in which participants shave their heads for charitable donations and our Student Council helps her to raise as much money as they can!

This year, we worked closely with Hands of Hope, a non-profit organization located at the St. James Church right here in Edison.  We participated in numerous food drives as well as a toy drive during the holiday season.  We also raised funds for the organization and helped fill their food pantry several times over!

As a whole, the Student Council looks forward to helping others and we know we could not do it without the help of the wonderful families of James Monroe.  You have such big hearts and we appreciate all your generosity. We look forward to helping many more families in the future!
