Dear Parents and Guardians:
I hope this letter finds you well and renewed and you have thoroughly enjoyed the extra time with your children this summer. Today, we are reunited as a school community and I look forward to seeing all of you with anticipation and excitement over the next few weeks at the many school functions and Back-to-School Night activities.
It has been a very busy summer for the district and there is much to be excited about for the coming school year. So much has been happening throughout the district to prepare for the school year to ensure that everything is in place as your child (ren) arrived this morning.
The 2011-2012 school year will be an exciting time for all of us as we embark on new district and school goals, new curriculum, technology initiatives, new academic programs and a commitment to increased student achievement, as well as providing an optimal learning environment for all students.
We are very excited to see our preparations come to fruition as we welcome back our students and staff on this first day of school. We are fortunate to have the best, most dedicated faculty, and support staff that work hard to ensure our students have what they need to have a successful learning experience. We will welcome 61new staff members and approximately 15,000 students back to school this year. In looking ahead, this year will bring many opportunities for community involvement and we welcome your participation. We all know the important role parents play in student achievement, so this year I will ask you again to rededicate yourselves to increasing your involvement in our schools.
As always, we continue to seek new and better ways to keep our families informed of our efforts. Please visit our district web site at www.edison.k12.nj.us for information you may need throughout the year, including back-to-school announcements, lunch menus, calendars, curriculum updates, and Board of Education meeting agendas, minutes and policies. If you use e-mail, subscribe to our district website to receive information through your home or work e-mail address. It’s quick, easy and convenient. Moreover, if you are new to our area, remember to register to vote so that you can take part in the annual school elections.
I am eager and excited about the possibilities that lie ahead for our school district. Every school year holds innumerable possibilities and opportunities for each of us to grow. It is only by working together and striving toward a common goal that those opportunities may become a reality. Our common goal is the well-being and education of each and every child!
Sincerely,
Richard O’Malley Ed.D.
