LIBRARY CLUB
This club will promote the love of leisure reading through book talks, author talks, and assist withpromoting library activities.  (Example:  Family Book Bingos, Scholastic Book Fairs,Pizza Hut, Book-It-Program, 360-Minute Six Flags Great Adventure ReadingProgram, Battleof the Books).  The club will meet every WEDNESDAYat 3:05 PM – 3:55 PM in the Library.

MEMORY YEARBOOK

Students will complete the TJ Memory Book.  This Yearbook will create a culmination of memories that will last for years.  The club starts in October during “C” lunch on FRIDAYS in Room 109.

NATIONALJR. ART SOCIETY CLUB

The NJAHS is designed specifically for students in grades 7-9 which helps generate interesting art programs at the secondary level.  The art society club will help generate interest in art programs for the purpose of inspiring and recognizing those students who have shown an outstanding ability in art.  The club will meet every THURSDAY at 3:05 PM– 3:55 PM in Room 120.

 HOMEWORKCLUB

This club will provide a quiet environment for students to complete their homework and study for upcoming tests and quizzes.  This club will help students who are struggling with their homework.  The club will meet every WEDNESDAY at 3:05 PM– 3:55 PM in Room 102.

ORGANIZATION/STUDY SKILLS

The Organization/Study SkillsClub will teach students study skills as well as organizational skills necessary to succeed in the middle school and beyond.  This club will meet every THURSDAY at 3:05 PM– 3:55 PM in Room 103.

 FILMCLUB

This club will expose students to a variety of high quality movies and to explore some of the techniques that film makers use. Students will actively view different films from a variety of cultures and time periods.  The discussions will be on the editing, directing, and acting techniques used as well as jot down talking points.  This club will meet every THURSDAY at 3:05PM – 3:55 PM in Room 207.

DRAMA CLUB

The drama club is open to 6 – 8 grade students. The club will have auditions for lead roles and support roles.  The club members will be practicing in the CAFÉ on WEDNESDAYS and THURSDAYS. Starting practice dates to be determined.  There will be a dramatic performance sometime in March.

SWAT(Students Working to Advance Technology)

The students will meet on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8:00 AM – 8:20 AM in Room 110 to work with the building’s computers and peripherals.  They will be able to work on school projects as well as help teachers/employees to maintain computers, peripherals, andsoftware updates.

ODYSSEY OF THE MIND

This club provides students with the opportunity to show off their creativity through group problem-solving activities. The Odyssey of the Mind team will meet on WEDNESDAYS and THURSDAYS at 3:00 PM – 3:55 PM in Room 218 and Room 107 to solve mathematical, literary, and science-related problems.  This club offers students the opportunity to compete amongst their peers, as well as work together to compete against other schools.

 NEWSPAPERCLUB
This club will teach students how to write a news article and to create a school newspaper honoring the achievements, diversities, and successes of TJ’sstudents and staff.  We will host some after-school events.  This club will meetevery WEDNESDAY at 3:05 PM – 3:55 PM in Room 207.

STUDENT COUNCIL

The club will provide a student body community that will take part in collaboration of school functions, community service, and fundraising.  The club will meet on the following days below at 3:05 PM – 3:55 PM starting in October. Grade 8 will meet on WEDNESDAYS in Room 109.  Grade 7 will meet on WEDNESDAYS inRoom 221.  Grade 6 will meet on THURSDAYS in Room 211.

PUZZLEMAKERS

Jigsaw puzzles are excellent brain training and coordination improvement tools and area lot of fun!  In particular, they develop your abilities to reason, analyze, sequence, logical thought processes and problem solving skills.  These types of puzzles also improve hand-eye coordination and develop a good working sense of spatial arrangements.  The club will listen to music, put together and frame puzzles, and use them to decorate TJ.  This club will meet every THURSDAY at 3:05 PM– 3:55 PM in Room 117-A.

Students will rehearse in preparation for several performances: Spring and winter concerts, elementary school concerts, & Great Adventure competition.  The club willmeet as follows in the Band Room:

The students will develop the ability to sing in 2-and-3 part harmony and prepare arepertoire for the Music Festivals and possible assemblies.  The club will meet every MONDAY or TUESDAY whichever is the “A” Day during lunch in the Chorus Room.

7TH& 8TH GRADE CHORUS (GIRLS)

The students will develop the ability to blend their 2-and-3 part harmonies into a finished product for the Winter & Spring Music Festivals, perform at malls, other schools, District Choral Festival, and Great Adventure.  The club will meet every THURSDAY from 3:05PM – 3:55 PM in the Chorus Room.

The TJMS Art Club is designed to provide an extra-curricular experience for students who love art.  Students willmeet every WEDNESDAY in Room 120 to explore their creativity and new arttechniques.  Students will participate inpersonal journaling in a sketchbook.
