Clash of the Classes @ EHS Football Stadium
Hey, EHS, this year’s edition of the Powder Puff Game was amazing. There are many who wish this EHS tradition would go away for reasons that vary from difficulty in crowd control to after game sportsmanship to pushing the feminist movement back some decades, yet this year's evening game did just the opposite of all those things. The EHS Lady Eagles that graced the field with their athletic ability and determination proved that women can play the game of football. The plays were organized and executed flawlessly by senior, Cassandra Dennis, and junior Morgan Peacock, 2 of the game’s leading scorers. So much so, that the lead changed 3 times in the last 3 minutes.
In the end, the Class of 2013 came out in front with a final score of 32-30. The Seniors, led by Coach Kesselman, were dejected but maintained their emotions under control to see the awarding of the trophy go to Coach Legendre and the Juniors and exited the stadium with proper decorum.
Closing the main gate and stopping the sale of tickets at half time was a huge contributor to maintaining a crowd that came to see and enjoy the excellent game being played on the field. The atmosphere before, during, and after the game was positive and peaceful with no outward displays of negative behaviors. All in all, the night was a successful way to raise money for both the Class of 2012 and the Class of 2013 with a game that, according to EHS Head Football Coach and one of the game’s referees, Mr. Fulham, “was the best and cleanest game played that I have officiated in the last 4 years.”
Hey, EHS, we would like to give a warm welcome into our EHS Community to PM Studios, a local photography studio on Amboy Avenue. The studio’s owner, Mitch Rubin, will be visiting EHS on 5/22, 5/23, & 5/24 during the lunches to take sign-ups for rising senior portraits. Once scheduled, next year’s senior portraits will be shot in the library from 6/4 through 6/11 by appointment only.
PM Studios has been selected by Mr. Ross as the official photographer for all EHS athletic and extracurricular events for the 2012-2013 school year. Mr. Rubin will be on hand to shoot the Class of 2013 outside group photograph on 9/10 and underclass photos on 9/12, 9/13, & 9/14.
EHS Administration is looking forward to great photos of our Eagles for all our sporting seasons, musicals, concerts, and performances. In order to make this happen, Mr. Rubin has volunteered to provide a workshop for interested student photographers at two times during the 2012-2013 year. If that is you, visit the EHS library and sign up for this new course on how the pros do it.
