Third graders got a visit from Offier Meade and Lucky, a K9 team from the Edison Police Department. Officer Meade told us all about his partnership with Lucky and how similar it is to Aero and Officer Mike, who we read about in Journeys, We want to say a BIG thank you to Officer Meade and Lucky for coming in to see us and for answering all of our questions!
John Marshall Speech Language Specialists work with students in groups.
1st graders work together to create a class mural in art class ... The themes for each classes include our town Edison NJ, adventures in outer space , up in the sky, under the sea and the rainforests. The classes worked with the iPad and Promethean board to research their class's theme !
As a culminating activity to the study of bears and other animals that hibernate, adapt, and migrate during winter, first graders brought their teddy bears to schools for a sleepover in the classroom. It looks like they had a fun time!
English Language Learning students use a voice recording app on the iPad to evaluate their reading fluency.
First graders cared for eggs delivered from Quiver Farm, which hatched into healthy chicks. Students observed both the eggs and chicks to further understand the life cycle of a chicken.
The staff from St. Peter's Hospital Child Life Services Department visited the kindergarteners at John Marshall School for a Teddy Bear Clinic. This experience helped the children to learn how caring and kind the hospital workers would be in the event that they had to go to the hospital one day. Thank you St. Peter's Hospital!
John Marshall Speech Language Specialists work with all kindergarten classes.
Students in the John Marshall Odyssey of the Minds club worked cooperatively after-school to do research on their projects using I-pads. They generated a ton of remarkable ideas to share with their teams.

At John Marshall School we seek to have each child reach his or her full academic potential. In addition, we have available a wide variety of programs and clubs to assist students in becoming better citizens and improving their self worth. These programs and clubs include Strings, Chorus, Band, Community Helpers, Student Council, Environmental Club, English Language Learners' Game Club, Technology Club, Magical Friends, Brain Teaser, Homework Haven and Fitness Club. The students at John Marshall participate in our Character Education program, designed to teach them the six pillars of having strong character. Our students also participate in activities sponsored by the district wide C.A.R.E.S. program.
We are a diverse community with students representing cultures from all over the world. We have an active Human Relations Committee which works closely with our PTO to plan a wide variety of family-oriented evening programs and daytime assemblies. John Marshall has partnered with the Edison Municipal Alliance. This program works with parents and children to help strengthen the family unit.
We provide our students with a wide variety of opportunities to explore and express their thoughts. We publish a quarterly school newspaper focusing on student writing. Students are rewarded for meeting and exceeding their leisure reading goals through numerous programs.
At John Marshall, we continue to work together as a close knit community of life-long learners for the betterment of our student body.
