April 7, 2011 - The Edison Township Education Association and the Edison Board of Education had a cordial initial negotiations session, in which ground rules were discussed and established. Future meeting dates during May and early June were set; and it was determined that proposal would be exchanged at their next session, scheduled for May 5, 2011.

A good number of non-monetary proposals were tentatively agreed to in principle and others will be revisited by both sides. The groups are tentatively scheduled to meet again on June 21.

June 9, 2011 - The Edison Township Education Association and the Edison Board of Education met to discuss various issues related to the Certificated contract. Several non-monetary proposals were tentatively agreed to in principle and others are being revisited. July 19, 2011 - The Edison Township Education Association and the Edison Board of Education met to discuss financial proposals for both the Certificated and Non-Certificated contracts. Both sides shared feedback and agreed to continue the dialogue at the next bargaining session, which is scheduled for August 16.

August 16, 2011 - The Edison Board of Education and the Edison Township Education Association met to continue discussions on financial proposals related to the next collective bargaining agreement. In addition, issues related to contract language were addressed.

 

The groups will continue to meet individually to review existing proposals and formulate strategies and counter proposals for the next meeting, set for October 3.

October 12, 2011 - The Edison Township Education Association and the Edison Board of Education met on October 11 to discuss issues related to the Certificated and Non-Certificated contracts. Significant progress was made on many non-financial items in both contracts. The two groups will meet again to discuss various financial and non-financial issues on November 3, 2011.

November 4, 2011 - The Edison Township Education Association and the Edison Board of Education met on November 4 to continue discussions related to the Certificated and Non-Certificated contracts. Agreement was reached on many of the non-financial aspects of the contract. It is anticipated that these agreed-upon items will be signed off at the next session, at which time it is expected that both sides will be in position to present additional details of their respective financial packages. The teams are scheduled to meet again on November 28, 2011.

November 28, 2011 - At the request of the President of the Board of Education, tonight’s scheduled negotiations session between the Board of Education and the Edison Township Education Association has been postponed and will be rescheduled for a mutually agreeable date in December. The Board has requested this postponement to allow for additional time to prepare proposed salary guides which will be part of the discussion at the next session.

The two sides expect to announce the date of their next session as soon as it is finalized.

December 21, 2011 - Representatives of the Edison Township Education Association and Edison Board fo Education met this evening to continue discussions on a new collective bargaining agreement. The session was focused on bringing the new Board negotiator up to date on the state of negotiations. In addition, the issue of salary guides was discussed.

 

Three negotiating sessions, the first of which is set for January 10, were established for the month of January.

January 10, 2012 - Representatives of the Edison Township Board of Education and the Edison Township Education Association met this evening to continue discussions on new collective bargaining agreements. The primary intent of the meeting was to discuss contract language and this mission was fulfilled. A majority of non-financial issues for both the Certificated and Non-Certificated contracts were agreed upon and signed off on both the ETEA President and the Board President. Discussions also continued on the latest financial proposals.

 

The two teams will meet again on January 20, at which time they anticipate addressing the remaining non-financial contract issues as well as the latest financial proposals.

January 20, 2012 - The Edison Township Education Association and the Edison Board of Education met to continue discussions on the collective bargaining agreements for both the Certificated and Non-Certificated employees. The discussion centered on open issues related to contract language for both units. The defining points were clarified and the teams discussed specific parameters for a new financial proposal.

 

The teams will meet again on January 31.

January 31, 2012 - Members of the Edison Board of Education and the Edison Township Education Association met this evening to continue discussions on a new collective bargaining agreement. A revised financial proposal was presented and discussed at length. The discussions were productive and both sides agreed to meet individually with their respective teams to review these proposals in depth and will meet again on February 23.
