Students in need of speech servicesare seen by our three Speech and Language Specialists:Mrs. Petruska, Ms. Rodriguez and Ms. Walworthwho all hold a Master’s Degree.Studentswork on communication skills such as: expressive and receptive language,syntax, listening comprehension, attention, vocabulary, problem solving, auditoryprocessing skills, phonological awareness, voice, social language skills,fluency, social pragmatic skills and articulation.Students are seen individually and/or in asmall group or within their classrooms to focus on improving these communicationskills.Each student has a SpeechHomework folder and assignments are given so they can practice their languageskills at home.Educational games areoften used to make learning fun.Students appear eager to come to Speech Class.Prizes and stickers are given as rewards forgood work.The Speech LanguageSpecialists are fortunate to each have an iPad which is used to supplementspeech lessons The students really enjoy using this exciting new technology.The Speech and Language Specialists lookforward to a positive and productive school year.
