Students in Ms. Taylor's First Grade class presented the play Charlie, the Caterpillar. The students performed the play for other first grade classes as well as their family and friends. Students learned all about the value of friendship and what it means to be a good friend. Click the title above for pictures and a video.
The Girls on the Run Club started as a group of girls coming together during recess and on Saturdays to walk/run in preparation of a 5k on June 9th. Over the past 10 weeks, they have grown into female leaders of the future. They recently participated in the Lakeview School 5k on June 1st. Good luck in your upcoming 5k girls!
Students in Mrs. Lechelt and Mrs. Callahan's third grade class worked together with students in Ms. LoCasto's first grade class to plant a beautiful garden outside the school. Students worked together to clean the garden, dig holes and plant the flowers. They also share the watering responsibility. Click the title above for pictures.
Menlo Park 5th Grade student, Selena Wang, was crowned the Spelling Bee Champion at the NJ101.5 sponsored event. The Spelling Bee was open to all 5th grade students in Middlesex County and the top speller was awarded with a $1,000 prize. Congratulations Selena! Menlo Park School is proud of you!
After completing a unit about Edison, the second grade students went on a field trip to the Edison Light Tower and the Dismal Swamp. As a way to show their appreciation, the students raised money for the Tower and the Swamp. In the end, the students learned all about Edison and the value of giving back to the community.
Anindya Mehta has a heart of gold and wanted to give back to Menlo Park School. He looked around and realized that one of the playgrounds had no seating area. He immediately realized that he could build benches for the area. He installed the benches and put down wood chips. We are so grateful for his generosity and kindness!
Students in Ms. Taylor's first grade class hosted a Bookworm Party. Students invited their families to come see them celebrate their love of reading. The students recited poems, performed a reader's theater, sang songs and of course, read books. Click the title above for more!
In March, the First Grade hosted their Annual Pajama Night at Menlo Park School. This annual event is a great way for teachers, students and their families show their love for reading. Click on "Grade Level News" and select the "First Grade News" to read more and see pictures!
Menlo Park First Grade Students were thrilled when Farmer Donna delivered numerous eggs for them to take care of. As time passed, the chicks hatched and the students helped take care of them! Go to the "Grade Level News" tab and click on "First Grade News" to see more pictures and a video!
Students in Mrs. Oshinski and Mrs. Kohut's class worked together during science class researching penguins on our new iPads. The students were super excited to use the iPads and can't wait to use them again! Go to the "Grade Level News" section and click on "Second Grade News" to see more!

We have a very nice playground at Menlo Park that the students get to enjoy regularly. Unfortunately, many playgrounds throughout New Jersey were destroyed by Sandy in November. The Menlo Park School community recently raised $1635.00 for Pennies for Playgrounds. Congratulations to Mrs. Drozd's fourth grade class who donated the most money! Thank you to all the students who gave so generously so that students at other schools can have a great playground!






The Menlo Park School community recently sold pink ribbons for $1.00 to raise money for City of Hope. Menlo Park School has raised $2,500.00, the most of all elementary schools in the district! City of Hope National Medical Center, is a private, not-for-profit clinical research center, hospital and graduate medical school located in Duarte, California, United States. There was a walk on Sunday, June 2nd to help raise money for this cause. Check out the pictures below to see the staff who walked on the Menlo Park Team. Thank you to everyone who donated!
