Welcome to James Monroe

James Monroe has retained its unique character as a small neighborhood school welcoming families from many different cultures in the midst of a metropolitan area.  It maintains strong, parental involvement and communication that help focus attention on developing the whole child. This cooperative spirit is supported by parent participation on school committees and PTA sponsorship of a variety of events, activities and programs such as grade level luncheons and school-wide field trips.

While working to provide a rich and challenging educational program, our staff is always concerned with every aspect of a child’s welfare. Our school-wide initiative continues to be reading comprehension while using our new comprehensive Language Arts program.  Problem Solving is the focal point of our Mathematics instruction. Teachers in all grades work daily to make math meaningful by showing its connection to real life. Each classroom is equipped with a Promethean Board and has access to our mobile computer lab.  Another priority was the continued development of an inclusive environment where all children were treated equitably.

James Monroe School is looking toward the future with sincere concern for the well being and learning success of each and every student.
